Logitech MX518 Gaming Optical Mouse Review July 2, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — otbwriting @ 2:00 pm

The MX518 has some mouth watering specs if you appreciate some of the more technical points to a mouse. For any gamer a quick look down at its features just goes to show how thoughtful Logitech have been in creating this awe inspiring mouse.

While there is always competition on the market, the MX518 has some unique features that really do help win over any serious gamer. The first important feature is its in-game sensitivity switching. Buttons on the mouse itself allow you to switch between 400, 800 and 1600dpi resolution the best part being you don’t need any software for the feature.
It also has an expanded 16-bit data format that pretty much completely destroys any lag you are ever likely to experience in a mouse. Naturally the mouse itself has plenty of buttons, each one pre programmed to do specific tasks, but with the software provided you can easily reprogram them to your satisfaction and make better use of IE’s forward and back buttons on it.

The look of the mouse is quite nice as well. Aimed at the “hardened” gamer, the mouse itself looks like it has been chucked through a war zone due to the bullet dents all over it, yet a clear covering over the mouse itself causes the effect to radiate stylishness without getting in the way of the comfort. It also has an excellent thumb and pinky rest that prevents excessive strain on either when using the mouse for long periods of time.

All in all this is an excellent mouse, probably the best out there you can buy at the moment.

The History and Connotations Behind Gangsta Tattoos

Filed under: Uncategorized — otbwriting @ 1:58 pm

With today’s bustling rap and hip hop culture focused on gangstas and music, a massive cultural shift has evolved where by tattoos have now been indicated as an exciting and stylish thing to get. For instance, Pink’s what comes around goes around tattoo is an example of a popular artist adorning her body with a tattoo. Yet to a lot of people who are not into the gangsta scene, a gangsta tattoo or ghetto tattoo is just another namesake associated with the particular genre, people do not really get the connotations or history behind them.

So let us discuss exactly what a gangsta tattoo is, as the subject is actually quite rich in depth, rather than just a popular cultural euphemism of our time. For instance, in the criminal world, tattoos are used widely amongst criminals as a record of membership and as a sign of the number of kills or even convictions they have amassed in their lifetime. Certain gangs also have gangsta tattoos as a form of code, with various tattoos placed around their body, from a head tattoo to a foot tattoo, to indicate specific traits or achievements concerning the tattooed criminal. A fantastic example would be the Russians, where an entire code system is in place which relates not only to what the tattoo is of, but also where the tattoo is placed. In a lot of cases a tattoo on the chest will normally mark the initiation of a new gang member, and more often than not resembles that of a rose, which is just the case with the Russian Mafia.

Criminals can also be punished and marked with gangsta tattoos, whether it is for breaking the criminal code of conduct or even just not paying their debts off in a timely manner. For instance, if a criminal has decided to snitch on a fellow inmate in a prison, a possible punishment, rather than just death, would be to apply a tattoo to the forehead. This in many ways can be a suitable reminder, not only to the victim, but also to everyone else who sees the tattoo. The tattoo itself could be of anything, from a libra tattoo to a britney spears tattoo, although in a lot of cases, it will follow some form of universal code amongst criminals, hence the term gangsta tattoo. For example, the suit of diamonds is normally forcibly applied to snitchers or informants head within a prison. A tattoo of the suit of Spades is generally associated with thieves, while Clubs represents the general criminal (so an assassin, murderer or another gang related position). Hearts, due to its obvious indications, refers to love, or within the prison world, the prison sex object/passive homosexual.

If a criminal dares to wear a tattoo that they have not earned, more often than not this can be punishable by death, as it breaks the criminal code of conduct. In some cases, the criminal may find that they need to remove certain tattoo’s, due to switching ligancy to another gang, or even loss of rank within their own current one.
